Do you love to talk about books at every opportunity? Been thinking about expanding your reading horizons? Want to meet some like-minded people or make some new friends? Join the Club!

Bookenders Bookclub is a great way to venture outside your reading comfort-zone.

This month we are reading The Pure Gold Baby by Margaret Drabble. Dame Margaret Drabble is the author of eighteen novels including  The Millstone and The Peppered Moth.  She was appointed CBE in 1980, and made DBE in the 2008 Honors list. She was also awarded the 2011 Golden PEN Award for a Lifetime’s Distinguished Service to Literature.

Jessica Speight, a young anthropology student in 1960s London, is at the beginning of a promising academic career when an affair with her married professor turns her into a single mother. Anna is a pure gold baby with a delightful sunny nature. But as it becomes clear that Anna will not be a normal child, the book circles questions of responsibility, potential, even age, with characteristic intelligence, sympathy, and wit.

The Bookenders Bookclub meets at the Chinchilla Library on the first Thursday of every month at 5.00pm, and new members are welcome to join us! Come along to our informal and friendly group where we’ll discuss life, the universe, and books over a great cup of coffee.
