Climate Extremes

Our region has experienced many extremes in weather in recent years with record breaking droughts, temperatures and floods.  Flood Horror and Tragedy is a lasting momento documenting the trials and tragedies experiences by Queenslanders in the extraordinary summer of 2010-2011.  Here we are, eight years later, experiencing the other extreme, one of our worst droughts in history.  For many of us the familiar (or unfamiliar) sound of rain is a beautiful sound, but for those who experienced the floods of 2010-2011, the sound triggers a chilling sense of sadness.  This 345 page book contains many large scale evocative images of the “Big Wet” including images and stories from the affected towns of Dalby, Chinchilla and Condamine.

The book was compiled by a committee of parents and friends of Agnew School.  100% of the profits from the sale of this book were donated to the Australian Red Ross and other charities. It is available at your local Western Downs Libraries branch.
