Our Western Downs Libraries Fun Palaces are on again and this year they are BIGGER and BETTER than ever! Save the date, because in September and October, we’re bringing a Fun Palace to a town near you!

What is a Fun Palace?

Fun Palaces are a chance to discover something new. Experience awesome science, art, robotics and more. This is a day dedicated to encouraging love and interest in science and art activities. There are dozens of hands-on interactive activities for the whole family! The best part? It’s completely free!

See drones in flight, have a conversation with a NAO robot and watch him move, or experience virtual reality with the HTC Vive.

Get your hands busy with art activities – from digital art, to painting, knitting, colouring-in and more.

Dalby Library will have a dedicated Under 5s zone where little ones can have fun with messy play and sensory activities.

Last year, almost 3000 people attended Fun Palaces events in Dalby, Tara, Chinchilla and Miles. Since you loved them so much, we’ve decided to add Fun Palaces events in 3 more locations. Mark it in your calendar:

Tara: Thursday 28 September, Tara Library, 9.30am–12.30pm

Wandoan: Thursday 28 September, Wandoan Library, 9.00am–12.00pm

Bell: Saturday 30 September, Bell Bunya Community Centre, 10.00am–1.00pm

Jandowae: Saturday 7 October, Jandowae Library, 10.00am–1.00pm

Dalby: Saturday 14 October, MyALL 107, 10.00am–1.00pm

Miles: Saturday 21 October, Dogwood Crossing, 10.00am–1.00pm

Chinchilla: Saturday 28 October, Fuller Place, 9.30am–12.30pm

Are you a community organisation? We want you!

We are seeking individuals and groups who would like to volunteer to assist our libraries to make this year’s Fun Palaces great! If you would like to showcase your business, hobby or group, we’d love your help!

  • knitting
  • scrap-booking
  • badge-making
  • leather-plaiting
