Western Downs Libraries have lots of books about starting school. Books are a wonderful tool that can help to reassure children about starting school or going to a new school. Books also open discussions on problems that happen to the characters in the books which you may be able to apply to how your child is feeling
There are also books that help children understand what happens when they start daycare, preschool or kindergarten. Some of the titles available at the library are Starting School by Jane Godwin. Ming Goes to School by Deirdre Sullivan, Birdie’s First Day of School by Sujean Rim or Mouse’s Big Day by Lydia Monks. Come in to any branch and ask the friendly librarian for assistance – they will be happy to help.
These sessions are fun, free, and delivered by trained staff!
