Storytime at Chinchilla – Messy Play May

By: | Tags: , , , | Comments: 0

Come along to Storytime at Chinchilla Library, every Friday at 10.15am.

Renee is back and looking forward to delivering some exciting Storytime sessions!

We are getting on board with Playgroup Queensland‘s Messy Play Days in May. Messy play experiences are designed to help your child learn through play and to ready them for school. The activities encourage the development of fine and gross motor skills as well as hand-eye coordination, imagination, early math competences and language.

(Tip: You might want to wear old clothes!)

Every Storytime session is made up of four components – talk, sing, read and play. Of course reading occurs each Storytime, and the books are carefully selected to reflect the interests and ages of the children that we expect to attend. But it’s the value-adding components that make our Storytime sessions so special – singing songs and nursery rhymes, playing with scarves and parachutes, using props and puppets, experimenting with sensory activities and making crafts.

Parents, grandparents, carers and friends are very welcome.

Storytime for Toddlers is aimed at ages 2-3, however everyone is welcome.

These sessions are fun, free, and delivered by trained staff!

Why is Storytime important?

Did you know that up to 90% of a child’s brain development happens in the first 5 years? Research is now telling us that when babies and children get what they need – it can have a lasting effect on their future. Sharing stories, rhymes, singing, talking and playing with your child from birth builds a foundation for your child’s future development that can last a lifetime.

It’s never to early to Read, Talk, Play, Sing!
