Meet new friends at the library!

Late last year, Friendship Group commenced at Chinchilla Library after seeing a need in the community for a social group where new and long-term residents could come together to make new friends, share ideas and learn about the community.

Since then, on the second Thursday of each month we have offered a nice morning tea to those attending our group and have watched the numbers grow from a few to many. Friendships have been formed and stories shared, and some even meet up socially outside of the library. Some of our newer residents have also immersed themselves into the community with operating market stalls, volunteering at Op Shops and joining other organisations.

With all the wonderful events on regularly at Western Downs Libraries, it’s been great to share these and local community events with our attendees.

Earlier this year, Friendship Group became Cuppa and a Chat. The name change suits our guests very well as there is always a lot of chatting and laughter going on. It is so good to see (and hear) new connections being made.

Cuppa and a Chat is open to all ages from 18 and over, and everyone is made to feel very welcome by both the library staff and the rest of the group. So please come along…every month or whenever you can make it!

Please note Cuppa and a Chat will be taking a break during December and January but will be recommencing in February with a special event…guest speaker Linda Brennan presenting Growing Edible Flowers. The usual morning tea will be provided.

Hope to see you soon for a Cuppa and a Chat at Chinchilla Library. No bookings required, more information is available here.
